Project Manager

Sutherland Asset Management Corporation operates as a real estate finance company. It acquires, originates, manages services, and finances small balance commercial (SBC) loans, small business administration (SBA) loans, residential mortgage loans, and mortgage backed securities collateralized primarily by SBC loans, or other real estate-related investments. The company operates through four segments: Loan Acquisitions; SBC Conventional Originations; SBA Originations, Acquisitions and Servicing; and Residential Mortgage Banking.

The firm is seeking a hands-on Project Manager for the Sutherland REIT and affiliated portfolio companies with loan origination experience to formulate the long-term vision and strategies for technology initiatives. The position reports to Sutherland’s Chief Operating Officer, working closely to ensure synergies in operations and overall workflow for the Chief Operating Officer. The ideal candidate requires outstanding technical and business expertise in the mortgage industry. The candidate will liaise with various department heads, manage and lead various projects, manage timelines and expectations for senior management.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Manages all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion.
  • As the point of contact on assigned projects, performs a variety of highly skilled duties such as: assembling, coordinating and managing multidisciplinary projects with human resources, IT, Business Analytics, Operations, etc.
  • Facilitates and troubleshoots the myriad of problems associated with developing complex systems or with coordinating and development, and design projects.
  • Provides highly skilled technical and management advice and assistance to department management and personnel.
  • Responds to inquiries about projects.
  • Chairs various project review and pre-submittal meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison as required with boards, committees and commissions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree required with 4-5 years of relevant work experience
  • PMP Certification required
  • Experience in Project Management in the mortgage industry is preferred
  • Ability to drive technology innovation by building robust, scalable, trusted environments
  • Ability to assess, communicate and take accountability of the risks/rewards associated with firm wide projects
  • Innovative thinker; able to work independently, problem solve, ability to analyze tasks and projects and develop project plans adhering to strict budget and timelines
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles
  • Proven experience in planning, organization and development of projects
  • Ability to set and manage priorities by being forward thinking, a proven leader and innovation
  • Excellent interpersonal/tactical skills
  • Exceptionally self-motivated and directed with a strong attention to detail
