Marketing Director

Waterfall Asset Management (“Waterfall”) is a $6.5 billion diversified alternative asset manager specializing in high yield asset backed securities (“ABS”), residential mortgage loans and small balance commercial loans (“Whole Loans”). The firm manages an array of alternative investment vehicles including hedge funds, SMAs and a public REIT, Sutherland. In addition Waterfall functions as a sub advisor on 40 Act and UCITS funds. The firm employs a full time staff of 86, and affiliated portfolio companies have over 100 employees. Waterfall’s client base includes Taft-Hartley plans, pensions, endowments, foundations and family offices. 

Job Summary:

The Marketing Director will develop, oversee, launch and implement marketing strategy, programs and projects that support the company’s vision, and short- and long-term plans, both internally and externally.   The Marketing Director will be responsible for developing a marketing strategy for ReadyCap that engages with our customers and vendors; distribute communications to the market that also energize our staff internally.  Provide strategic direction and concepts, and ensure operational excellence of cross-functional launch programs organization wide.  This Director will work closely with managers and executive leadership team to monitor progress and correct course when necessary.  The Director should possess strong communication skills, ability to develop new ideas and marketing concepts, demonstrate results driven leadership, and be able to develop and manage new processes for marketing, and identify and solve problems. The Marketing Director will work well with others, manage projects, and easily multitask. The Director should be a strategic thinker with customer/client focus, deliver driven results and talent, and strong technical capacity.

Summary of essential job functions:

Rebranding Strategy:

  • Work with senior leadership to determine brand structure, legal entity structure, and build brand equity using simplified messaging of products, future loan products, and current business divisions. Craft and bring a corporate story to life across the organization. Lead and deliver high-quality content. Execute and communicate intentionally across all avenues including social media.

Develop & Manage Marketing Strategy and Reporting:

  • Establish, manage and monitor marketing budget with COO.
  • Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and product launches that drive new business volume, increase market awareness, grow customer satisfaction and meet overall organizational objectives.
  • Primary liaison with our outside marketing vendors to manage routine marketing initiatives and special marketing concepts and rebranding efforts.
  • Understand market trends, competitive landscape, buyer journeys, and the ReadyCap business strategy to formulate the next phase go to market approach
  • Develop a personal based strategy to increase awareness, preference and demand for ReadyCap solutions.  Oversee the firms marketing, events, and communications.
  • Coordinate all direct response marketing as needed.
  • Web Design and Development, Inbound Marketing, Content Marketing, Digital Media Marketing experience
  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.

Business Acumen:

Be knowledgeable about our business, industry standards, and competitor marketing strategies.  Use this information to implement and improve upon ReadyCap’s marketing strategy and initiatives.


Coordinate planning and execution of various industry conferences and company events.  Represents Company with trade associations as needed.

Public Relations:

Manage and coordinate all company generated press releases and public relations
Develop a personal based strategy to increase awareness, preference and demand for ReadyCap solutions.

Quality Control:

Ensure that all marketing plans, programs and projects support the overall marketing objectives established by the broader organization.

Project Management: 

Assist with projects that grow the organization’s presence in all forms of marketing including print, digital, market awareness, customer satisfaction, and event coordination.  Special Projects: Complete special projects as assigned. 

Database Management:

Manage contact data base of the Organization and implement regular and customized digital promotion/communication with all existing client relationships.

Sales Support:

Support print and digital marketing needs of Loan Officers and Organization Management.  Provide the team with new innovative concepts for brand marketing. 
Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.

Social Media:

Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence.   


Coordinate advertising campaigns as assigned.

  • Excellent communicator and a storyteller; confident and experienced in expressing in all forums and at all levels of the organization. 
  • Comfortable and effective in public speaking and in crafting and conveying messages both internally and externally.
  • Extensive coordination and communication skills in completing responsibilities collaborating with management, sales persons and outside vendors.

Message Consistency:  maintain a high quality and consistency while implementing job functions.
Decision making:  Ability to use independent judgment in making decisions on marketing / PR initiatives. 

Effectiveness:  Measure and evaluate performance of marketing dollars invested in all marketing initiatives utilizing measurement tools including return on investment, customer satisfaction, reputation enhancement and market share growth.

Quality and Timeliness:  Implement all efforts with accuracy and timeliness.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position will have one direct report.  Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in sales, marketing, or business administration. 
  • High level of creativity to design marketing and branding materials.
  • Preferably 7-10 years  of experience in marketing, sales, project management, or an acceptable combination, thereof.
  • Commercial real estate industry experience is preferred.  
  • Ability to work on multiple transactions simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solver and goal oriented individual.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Effective and clear communicator and manager.
